Corona Virus Update
Guidelines for golf to resume
Members Only
Diary Event

Balmore Golf Club was invited to join the debate to help shape the guidelines under which golf courses could re-open. Discussions are still ongoing, however there seems to be consensus within the golfing community on the following points:
1. Courses should re-open as soon as it is safe to do so, however social distancing guidelines must be adhered to.
2. Either Dougie or Robert will be Starters, ensuring that new guidelines are enforced.
3. It is likely that clubhouses will initially remain closed, with access to the Pro Shop, locker rooms and toilets treated as exceptions and managed by the Starter.
4. Groups may be restricted to two or three players, with gaps between tee times lengthened. Balmore has recommended that fourballs be permitted.
5. Flags will remain in the hole at all times. Holes will be shallow to allow for easier ball retrieval.
6. Rakes will remain removed from bunkers. A local rule allowing preferred lies within bunkers may be introduced.
7. Players will need to minimise time spent at the course before and after their round.
8. We’ve recommended that the practice area be open provided that social distancing is observed.
Balmore Golf Club will take direction from the Government, SGU and DGU. We will implement guidelines that comply with the law and take into considerations what we believe is best for staff, members, visitors and the club in general. We’ll do our best to keep up these regular communications to staff and members.
